Casablanca to the Sahara: imperial heritage and desert scenery
Start in Casablanca and travel across Morocco’s changing landscapes on a private four-day route that can combine Rabat, Fes, the Middle Atlas and the golden dunes of Merzouga. This is an ambitious journey, so your final destination and overnight stops must be agreed in advance.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Casablanca, Rabat and Fes
Travel from Casablanca towards Rabat with time for selected historic sights, then continue via the Meknes area to Fes. A local guided visit can be requested if the schedule allows.
Day 2 — Fes, Middle Atlas and Merzouga
Journey south through Ifrane, Midelt and the Ziz Valley to the dunes near Merzouga. A Sahara sunset and an overnight desert camp can be incorporated into your agreed package.
Day 3 — Merzouga, Todra Gorge and Dades
After the desert morning, travel west via the Todra Gorge region, dramatic valleys and southern oasis towns, with an overnight stop around Dades.
Day 4 — Aït Ben Haddou and Marrakech
Pass through Ouarzazate and visit Aït Ben Haddou before a High Atlas crossing towards Marrakech. Another final destination can be discussed, but will change the route and travel times.
Planning notes
This itinerary contains considerable driving. Families and guests wanting full guided city days may prefer six or more days. Confirm the precise drop-off point, hotels, desert camp, meals and guide arrangements before making any booking.
