Fes to Marrakech through the Sahara without rushing
This four-day private one-way itinerary links Morocco’s cultural centre of Fes with Marrakech through the Middle Atlas, Merzouga’s Erg Chebbi dunes and the famous kasbah valleys. Compared with a three-day crossing, the extra day gives more choice over sightseeing and accommodation.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Fes, Ifrane and the Ziz Valley
Cross the Middle Atlas from Fes via Ifrane and Midelt, enjoying mountain and oasis scenery on the journey south. Depending on departure time, stay en route or continue towards Merzouga.
Day 2 — Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi
Explore the Sahara region. A camel trek, desert sunset and overnight camp stay can be arranged depending on the selected service package.
Day 3 — Todra Gorge and Dades Valley
Continue west through Erfoud and Tinghir to the dramatic Todra area and scenic southern valleys, with an overnight in the Dades region.
Day 4 — Aït Ben Haddou, High Atlas and Marrakech
Travel through Ouarzazate and past the historic ksar of Aït Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas towards Marrakech. The final day involves mountain driving, so stops remain flexible.
