Cross Morocco from Fes to Marrakech via the Sahara
Connect Fes and Marrakech over three days by travelling through the Middle Atlas, the dunes of Erg Chebbi and southern Morocco’s spectacular valleys. This one-way private itinerary avoids returning to Fes after your desert visit.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Fes, Ifrane, Ziz Valley and Merzouga
Depart Fes and head south through the Middle Atlas landscapes around Ifrane, Azrou and Midelt. The route descends towards the palm groves of the Ziz Valley before arriving in the Merzouga region for the agreed Sahara camp and sunset experience.
Day 2 — Merzouga, Todra Gorge and Dades Valley
Enjoy the desert morning before travelling towards Tinghir and the dramatic canyon of Todra Gorge. Continue through southern valleys to your overnight accommodation in the Dades area.
Day 3 — Ouarzazate, Aït Ben Haddou and Marrakech
Travel west through Skoura and Ouarzazate, then visit the UNESCO-listed ksar of Aït Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas to Marrakech. This final day involves a long mountain drive, so timings are approximate.
