From the cultural heart of Fes to the golden Sahara dunes
This private two-day route travels from Fes through the Middle Atlas and the palm-filled Ziz Valley to the Sahara around Merzouga. The transition from mountain towns and cedar forests to desert scenery is the central experience. Because this is a short round trip, expect considerable driving both days.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Fes, Ifrane, Midelt and Merzouga
Travel south from Fes through Ifrane and the mountain scenery around Azrou and Midelt. Continue down the Ziz Valley, where palm groves contrast with rocky hills. Reach the Merzouga region in time for the agreed desert programme, which may include camel trekking, sunset views and an overnight camp stay. The selected camp and included activities will be confirmed in advance.
Day 2 — Sahara sunrise, Ziz Valley and return to Fes
Rise early for the desert morning before returning north through the Ziz Valley and Middle Atlas. The return drive is long, with short breaks and photo stops based on the chosen route and departure time.

Is two days long enough?
It is possible but fast-paced. If you would rather explore more of southern Morocco, consider a three-day route continuing to Marrakech or request a longer itinerary tailored to your family.
Before confirming
Agree the vehicle, pickup and return points, camp facilities, meals and any guiding or camel experience as part of your written quotation. Do not assume that all activities are included.
