PRIVATE MOROCCO EXPERIENCES · NEW YEAR 2027/27
If you have only two days for a New Year escape from Marrakech, a private excursion towards Zagora can be considered. The Draa Valley and southern desert scenery offer a memorable setting for 31 December without the longer journey to Erg Chebbi. Zagora’s surroundings are different from the tall dunes of Merzouga, so expectations should be clear before booking.
Your private New Year experience
From €345 / person
Indicative starting price based on 2 adults travelling together. Shared double or twin accommodation is the pricing basis where overnight stays are included in your quote.
Final price and exact inclusions are confirmed in your personalised quotation, subject to New Year availability, accommodation or venue choice and any selected extras. This is a guide price, not a confirmed bookable offer.
Why choose this New Year experience?
The experience begins with the Atlas crossing, descends through kasbah landscapes and follows the palm-rich Draa Valley. In winter, the hours of daylight make a sensible itinerary especially important. A simple camp experience or a more comfortable accommodation option may be possible, but the exact night, meal package and amenities require confirmation.
Every celebration has different admission rules, special menus and availability. We prepare a tailor-made proposal for your party and explain the services, dates and quotation before you commit. A website enquiry is not a confirmed reservation, and neither a special show nor a particular hotel is guaranteed until reconfirmed with the supplier.

Your suggested private itinerary
This is a sample programme. We adapt timing, venues and stops after checking winter conditions and bookings.
31 December — Cross the High Atlas
Depart Marrakech early and drive south via scenic mountain roads. Enjoy viewpoint and meal breaks as feasible without losing too much winter daylight.
High Atlas panoramas: leave Marrakech early for the climb towards Tizi n’Tichka, where roadside viewpoints can show terraced slopes, villages and changing mountain scenery. This is a long driving day and winter weather can change the route, so breaks are arranged with safety and daylight in mind.
Draa Valley — Landscapes and oases
Continue towards Zagora through palm groves and settlements, focusing on the changing landscape rather than an overly crowded list of detours.
The Draa Valley: from Ouarzazate and Agdz, the road opens onto palm groves, earth-built settlements and oasis views before Zagora. A photo stop or short cultural visit can be discussed, but do not assume every village along the road is a scheduled sightseeing stop.
New Year’s Eve — Camp or southern lodging
Check into an agreed venue with the dinner and any celebration details specified in writing. Expect low nighttime temperatures and variable camp standards.
New Year in southern Morocco: settle into your chosen Zagora accommodation or desert-style camp and enjoy the dinner included in your confirmed quotation. A special gala, music or midnight programme is not automatic. Ask about heating, bathrooms and access because winter nights can be cold.
1 January — Return to Marrakech
After breakfast, travel north via the Draa region and the Atlas Mountains, with return timing allowing for road conditions and daylight.
Return via the valleys: after breakfast, drive back through the Draa region, Ouarzazate and the High Atlas. Scenic breaks can be accommodated where practical, but the priority is a safe return to Marrakech. We recommend allowing additional time rather than scheduling a tight evening commitment.
What to know before booking
This is a considerable road journey across the mountains, despite the shorter duration. Camp heating and bathrooms vary. Winter clothing, road patience and flexibility are essential. No bonfire, music or special dinner is promised unless booked.
If travelling on New Year’s Eve, book early and allow time for availability checks, deposit requirements and return-travel planning. Transfers, special dinners, guiding, camel rides and overnight accommodation are included only if itemised in your final offer.

Frequently asked questions
Practical answers for planning your private Morocco experience. Select a question to read the details.
Are there dunes like Merzouga?
No. The Zagora area does not offer the same towering Erg Chebbi dunes; choose Merzouga if large dunes are your priority.
Can we make this a private family trip?
Yes, with a suitable car, child seats and realistic breaks if confirmed in your quote.
Does the tour include camp accommodation?
The final offer will specify the exact venue and services rather than assuming any standard inclusions.
More answers for planning your New Year tour
Explore the practical details before you book. Each private tour is tailored to your needs, and exact inclusions are always confirmed in writing.
Zagora and the Draa Valley
Is Zagora the same kind of desert as Merzouga?
No. Zagora is associated with the Draa Valley and southern desert scenery, while Merzouga offers the much larger Erg Chebbi dunes. Do not expect identical landscapes or dune height.
How much driving is involved from Marrakech?
Both days involve considerable driving across the High Atlas and through Ouarzazate and the Draa region. The journey is shorter than some Merzouga routes, but not a quick excursion.
Will we drive over the High Atlas pass?
The usual route includes the mountain corridor near Tizi n’Tichka. Snow or road restrictions may lead the driver to revise timing or routing.
What can we see in the Draa Valley?
Palm groves, oasis landscapes and southern settlements are among the main scenic attractions. Stops are selected according to the schedule and daylight; a specialist village tour is not automatically included.
Where do we sleep near Zagora?
A camp, lodge or other suitable accommodation can be arranged depending on your preferred comfort level and availability. The exact location and room details will be listed in the quote.
Will our camp be among huge dunes?
Not necessarily. The landscapes near Zagora differ by camp and may be rocky or feature smaller dunes. Ask for photographs and exact details of the selected accommodation.
Are bathrooms, heating and electricity available?
Facilities depend on the property. Request confirmation of private or shared bathrooms, hot water, power and heating before selecting a camp for winter nights.
Can we add camel trekking?
It may be available through a local provider as an optional activity. Duration, conditions and safety arrangements will be confirmed separately.
Do we celebrate midnight in the camp?
Only if the overnight venue and its New Year’s Eve arrangements are explicitly confirmed. A festive dinner, party, music or fireworks is not automatically included.
Could we visit Ouarzazate attractions?
A short stop may be possible, but a full guided visit adds time to an already busy driving day. Mention any priority attractions when requesting your itinerary.
What should we bring for an overnight desert stay?
Warm layers, closed shoes, basic toiletries, necessary medication and a small overnight bag are sensible. Check the accommodation facilities and expected weather before packing.
Can we finish in Ouarzazate instead of Marrakech?
A modified one-way trip may be possible on request, with a revised transport arrangement and quote. Let us know before confirming the booking.
Prices, bookings and travel arrangements
Is the displayed starting price the final amount?
No. The ‘from’ price is an indicative guide only. The final quotation depends on dates, travel party, accommodation or dinner venue, vehicle, New Year’s Eve supplements and requested extras. No rate or availability is guaranteed until confirmed in writing.
What will be included in our private booking?
Your personalised offer sets out transport, pickup and return points, lodging or venue, meals, guided services, any additional activities and relevant exclusions. Please rely on the final inclusions list rather than assuming every experience mentioned on the website is part of the package.
When is the booking officially confirmed?
An enquiry or quotation is not a confirmed reservation. The booking is confirmed only when the selected suppliers have accepted the arrangements, any required payment and conditions have been fulfilled, and you receive written confirmation.
How early should we request a New Year booking?
Enquire as early as convenient, because the festive period often has limited accommodation and special-event capacity. We check availability individually; early contact improves planning options but does not guarantee any hotel, camp, restaurant or event.
Can we customise departure time, travel pace and activities?
Yes, private arrangements can be tailored to your priorities within realistic driving times, weather and venue availability. Changes to dates, route, accommodation or excursions may alter the cost and should be agreed before the booking is confirmed.
Are travel insurance, tips and entrance tickets included?
Do not assume so. Travel insurance, gratuities, attraction tickets, optional activities and specialised local guides are included only where your confirmed quotation specifically lists them. Check your personal travel insurance for winter travel and any optional adventure activities.
What happens when bad winter weather affects the itinerary?
Driver and guest safety comes first. Snow, ice, wind, road closures or delayed suppliers can require a revised route, later arrival or replacement activity. Any change and its financial implications are handled according to the confirmed terms and suppliers involved.
What payment and cancellation conditions apply?
Deposits, final-payment dates, changes, cancellation fees and any non-refundable festive arrangements are stated in your individual quotation. Terms can differ among transport, camps, hotels and event venues; please review them before accepting the booking.
